2012 Olympic Torch visits Towyn on 29th May 2012
The 2012 Olympic Torch will be journeying through Wales in the build-up to the 2012 games. The torch will be in Wales from the 25th to the 30th May, and is an excellent way to start the summer of tourism in Wales. It brings about an excellent opportunity for tourists to come and visit Wales and explore the beautiful scenery and visit the popular seaside resort towns and many villages throughout Snowdonia National park.The torch is a very important part of the 2012 games, and the design is an essential part. Many torches throughout history have been design to represent the host nation. This year’s torch has been designed with 8,000 small holes, each representing one of the torch bearers. The torch is 800 millimetres long and weighs 800 grams. It has been created out of a light aluminium metal and is golden is colour.
The torch will travel through Wales and will travel the streets of many very popular Welsh towns and villages. It will eventually be used to ignite the flame in London and initiate the start of the games.
